Baralan International S.p.A. v. Avant Industries, Limited

Costantino P. Suriano on behalf of defendant Avant secured an Order from the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County awarding Avant over $1.1 million in legal fees expended in defense of plaintiff's 23 year-old lawsuit which proved meritless from inception. In addition, the Court awarded Avant pre-judgment interest in the amount of $1.067 million calculated from the date each legal bill had been paid despite Baralan's argument that pre-judgment interest was only applicable from the date the Court's August 4, 2003 decision.
